Because Feelings Matter Book Tag

I’ve been thinking about which topic I could talk about to ease myself back into this blogging thing and decided that a tag would be best. They’re so much¬†fun! Hopefully you guys enjoy and can relate to some of my answers. ūüôā

  1. What book made you feel confident, either about yourself or your life

Definitely Divergent by Veronica Roth. This book guys… I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to say enough about it. It’s high time for a re-read because I haven’t read it in soooo long. But anyway! This book came to me at a difficult time in my life. It taught me how to be brave and how to fight, but also showed me that a person can be vulnerable and weak at the same time as being strong. It showed me that strength, bravery, and vulnerability go hand in hand. Out of all the books I’ve ever read (besides the Bible of course) Divergent has probably left the biggest impact on my life. It’s been an inspiration to me ever since I read it.

2. What book made you feel sympathetic or sympathize greatly with the characters

I would probably have to choose¬†We Were Liars by e. Lockhart. I related to and felt for¬†the main character Cadie. She was going through some difficult stuff and her feelings for Gat were incredibly relatable at the time. The summer I read that book was also the one where I developed one of¬†my first real life¬†crushes. Before that I had had crushes on celebrities and fictional characters but I hadn’t really had a real crush on someone I knew in real life. So I related a lot with Cadie’s feelings for Gat.

3. What book made you feel anxious

Probably Shatter Me by Taherah Mafi. Don’t get me wrong,¬†the writing was brilliant and the characters were amazing¬†but there were just a few content issues that made me feel uncomfortable and anxious while reading. I ended up putting it down before finishing because I couldn’t take the anxiety and discomfort it brought anymore.

4. What book made you feel annoyed

Does this mean annoyed with the book or annoyed with the characters in the book? Because The Fever Code had some really annoying villains that I wanted to punch in the face but I LOVE that book as a whole. And¬†the¬†villains weren’t annoying in¬†a bad way, just in a¬†‘How could you do that?! You’re a terrible person and I hate you.’ kind of way. I can’t think of any books as a whole¬†that annoyed me so I might have to take a raincheck on this question.

5. What was a book that made you feel disappointed

Okay, before I say this title please know that I absolutely LOVE this series and really liked this book. It was just the ending that was disappointing when I read it. And this book is The Death Cure by James Dashner. Without giving too much away, it introduced us to something new at the very end and then stopped. I mean, it was an okay ending but I wanted more. If a book is going to introduce a completely new element at the last minute they should explain more. It left me feeling kinda confused and in need of an explanation. But I guess that does capture the nature of the book. Everyone is always confused.

6. What book made you feel confused

Hahaha! I was just talking about confusion in the previous question! Yup, The Maze Runner. Because everyone’s always confused about everything in that book.

7. What book made you feel satisfied

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith. That book is the cutest, lightest, most adorable piece of happiness that was ever published in the contemporary YA genre. It made me feel good the whole way through. It’s one of those books that makes you smile and sigh in contentment as you read the last line and close¬†it gently. Maybe you’ll also do a little happy dance and give a squeal of excitement and pleasure as you do so.

8. What book made you feel like you could really relate to the main character

I said this earlier but I really related with Cadie from We Were Liars and I also related with Tris from Divergent. Tris has always been a kind of role model to me and I related with her and the things she was going through. I always felt¬†a connection to her and Cadie’s character.

Sweater Weather Tag

Since I love fall so much I thought I would do a fall tag. I wasn’t tagged by anyone but it looked like so much fun so I thought I would do it anyway. This tag was created by itsmelexie1 and here is her video. (in the video she does¬†say that she tags anyone watching it so yay! I was tagged!)

This tag was also done by Ingrid Nilsen and she changed and added some questions to the tag. Her video is here if you want to go watch it.

I will be doing this tag with both of their questions but I am going to take out a few about makeup because I do not wear much of it.

I’m so excited to be doing this! Here we go!

1. Favorite candle scent- I’m not exactly sure what my favorite is. We don’t really light scented candles very often because of the chemicals¬†they release into the air but I do love smelling candles at the store. ¬†When I was little, I loved going to the candle shop at the mall to smell all the different candles.¬†Since we never buy them though I’m not sure which is my favorite. Recently my mom did buy me a ruby grapefruit one and it smells¬†REALLY good.

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate- Hot chocolate. I mean, tea and coffee are great too but hot chocolate is definitely my favorite. Especially when my dad makes it from scratch with milk and cocoa powder and sugar. It tastes so much better that way.

3. What’s the best fall memory you have- There are too many of them! I will have to share a few because I have so many great fall memories. One of my favorites is Thanksgiving¬†a few years back when I dressed up as a pilgrim. That was such a great Thanksgiving.¬†Another one¬†I have is from when I was really little, 7 or 8 maybe. I can’t really remember anything else, but I can remember¬†being¬†really busy the day before Thanksgiving as we prepared for it, and all the wonderful smelling foods cooking that I just couldn’t wait to eat the next day. Especially the ham. I can remember always being excited about the ham.¬†Another one is kind of odd because I don’t know when it was or what we were doing exactly. It might have been winter and it might not even be real but¬†I still love it. It was really dark out, nighttime, and our house was only lit by candles. My cousin¬†was over and we were having fun playing together but then she had to leave. It’s just such a cozy memory and I can only remember a tiny snippet of it but it’s still one of my favorites.

4. Best fragrance for fall- I don’t wear perfumes or fragrances so I’m going to switch this around and tell you what my favorite fall smell is. I love the smell of rain and apples in an orchard.

5. Favorite Thanksgiving food- My favorite Thanksgiving food… hmm. Can I just say all of it? But seriously, I really like ham, although we haven’t had it in years, and then probably mashed potatoes with corn and gravy. And pies. We always make lots of pies. I especially love peanut butter pie.

6. What is autumn weather like where you live- it really depends.¬†I would say most of the time it’s chilly although this week, even though it’s technically not fall yet,¬†it’s in the 80s for a couple days so it really goes back and forth.

7. Most worn sweater- I don’t really wear sweaters in the fall, I wear hoodies. But my favorite hoodie is bright yellow, with birds on it and the words ‘peace+love=happiness’ written on the sleeve.

8. Football games or jumping in leaf piles- Football games! I love watching football games. It’s one of my favorite things about fall.

9. Skinny jeans or leggings- I’m not a big fan of either, I’d rather wear more casual relaxed clothes but if I had to chose one it would be leggings. I’ve never liked jeans.

10. Combat boots or Uggs- Combat boots. I think they’re kind of cute and edgy and my mom has never liked Uggs so I don’t really like them either. That might change sometime though.

11. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype- ummm… I’ve never really had a lot of pumpkin spice so I’m not sure. Maybe you guys could tell me in the comments what you think of pumpkin spice and if I should try it?

12. Favorite fall TV show-¬†Most of my friends know that I don’t watch a lot of TV. We literally get like five channels so I don’t really have anything to watch. But the new season of Once Upon a Time is coming out this fall and I’m excited for that so I would have to say OUaT.

13. What song really gets you into the fall spirit- hmmm. The Leaves are Changin’ by Lindsay Lou and The Flatbellys. I will link it here¬†if you want to listen to it.

14. What do you want to be for Halloween- I am being Tris from Divergent this year and I am SUPER excited about it!

15. Hats or Scarves- definitely hats. I love wearing baseball caps, especially my Green Bay Packers one. They are my favorite football team.

16. What’s your #1 favorite thing about fall- ummmm… everything? Haha, no I guess my favorite thing about fall is the atmosphere. The weather getting chilly and breaking out the blankets. I just¬†love how cozy it is.

Okay, now to tag a few people. I tag.

A Demi-Gods Life

Thank you so much for reading and I hoped you enjoyed! I know I’ve been doing a lot of tag posts lately so I will try to get a writing related post up soon. Talk to you all later and if you have any suggestions¬†for what¬†you would like to see me do next¬†on my blog, feel free to leave it in the comments! Until next time, remember to keep writing!

Know Thyself Tag

I was recently tagged by my friend Hannah Davies over at Tomes and Tea. This tag was created by her so make sure you go check out her post by clicking here.

This tag was created for you to sort yourself into different categories in movies/books and I’m really excited to get started!

Harry Potter

I have always thought myself a Ravenclaw but recently some friends told me I was a Hufflepuff and, after reading a list of their traits, I started to agree. Out of the houses, I think these traits best describe me.

  • Dedication
  • Hard Work
  • Fair Play
  • Patience
  • Kindness
  • Tolerance
  • Unafraid of Toil
  • Loyalty

I was also unsure about Hufflepuff because I thought they had no characters that actually got any page time but my friend proved me wrong there too, reminding me that Cedric Diggory and Tonks both hailed from Hufflepuff. So now I have accepted Hufflepuff, although I’m still not sure if I don’t also have a bit of Ravenclaw in me.

Amity (2)

I think I best fit in Amity because I hate conflict. If there is conflict between two of my friends, I will try to solve it. I get super stressed during chaotic, conflicting situations and I have always been a peacekeeper. Plus I love music and I am creative so those are just added bonuses to why I should be in this faction.

The Hunger Games

I think I would probably fit best in¬†District 11: Agriculture. ¬†I don’t like farming too much but out of all the other districts, I would probably fit in here the best.¬†For most of¬†my life,¬†my family has been big on growing our own food and being self-sustaining, so I think I would fit in this district best, even if farming isn’t my favorite thing in the world.

The Delirium Series

I have never read this series before, but Hannah told me that there are only two choices to choose from: Cured, which means you can never fall in love, and uncured which means you can fall in love. I would definitely chose uncured because, although love can hurt sometimes, it’s also something that everybody needs. It can help to heal you if you have been hurt, and taking away the ability to love shouldn’t even be an option.

Star Wars

This one was a bit of a toughie. I had no idea where I would fit in in the world of Star Wars! I took a quiz to see what my role would be in the Star Wars universe and it said I would be a Jedi. I think that I could almost be a Jedi, but I don’t know about the whole not falling in love thing. If I fell in love with someone, I don’t know if I would be able to push my feelings aside. I do value kindness and fairness but I just don’t know if I would be able to pull the whole Jedi thing off so I’m not sure who I would be.

Lord of The Rings/The Hobbit Universe

At first when I was writing this post I thought I would be an elf. I love their home, it’s so pretty, and I also like their peacefulness and kindness but also the fact that they have a warrior spirit when they need it. But then I asked my friend and he said that I would probably be either an Elf or a Hobbit. When he said Hobbit, I started to think and realized I might indeed be a Hobbit. I love home, and peace and quiet but I have the feeling that somewhere, buried deep inside me, I also have an adventurous spirit that I am too afraid to unbury, just like Frodo and Bilbo. But I believe that, given the right push, it might uncover itself, just like Frodo and Bilbo’s did.

I took out two of the choices Hannah had in the original tag. I didn’t do Game of Thrones because I have never seen it (and don’t plan to) and I took out Percy Jackson because I have no idea which cabin I would belong to.

But Hannah told me that I could contribute a few more choices to the list. So here are a few more of my own.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Out of the four nations, I think I would belong to the water tribe because they are peaceful and strive to live in harmony with others. I also think it would be really cool to use my bending to heal people.

The Maze Runner

Out of all the jobs in the Glade, I think I would work best as a cook. I love making food so Cook might be a good idea for me but I also like helping people so Med-Jack would be my other choice.

And that’s all for this tag! I really hoped you liked it.

Now to tag some people.

If you do end up doing this tag, feel free to tag other bloggers to keep it going!

Hope you guys enjoyed the post and thanks again Hannah for tagging me! Until next time, remember to keep writing!

#WriterLife Tag

Okay, so I know¬†the¬†#WriterLife tag¬†is normally done in a video but I really liked the idea and I don’t do videos so I thought I would just answer the questions and have fun with it anyway (like this post¬†if you’re a rebel like me¬†ūüėÉ).¬†Let’s get started.

1. Write Fuel: what do you eat or drink¬†while writing- I like to drink hot chocolate and I don’t really eat a lot during writing. I guess my favorite thing to eat would probably be grapes and cheese. I don’t usually have this but I would love it if I did.

2. Write Sounds: what do you listen to while writing- There is this awesome website that I will link that I go to for music to listen to while I am writing. I hope the link works but this is the website I go to for my writing music needs. Along with that I also use, which plays the sounds of a thunderstorm, and I just recently discovered, which plays the sound of coffee shop. It may be a little weird but I also just turn on a YouTube video in the background and keep playing it over and over just to give some background noise. It helps a lot.

3. Write Vice: what’s your most debilitating distraction- Let’s be real here… the internet. I am so guilty of this one. The other day I was leaving my Twitter to open up my Google Docs word document and I accidently, without even realizing it, opened up Twitter again. Pinterest and YouTube are two of¬†my¬†other worst distractions.

4. Write Horror: what’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to you while writing- Okay, so this year I did NaNoWriMo for the first time (yay!) and I got Scrivener because they had a free NaNoWriMo trial and I had heard some good things about it so I thought, why not? I’ll tell you why not. I ended up finishing a book I had been working on for about a year and six months. Good right? Wrong. I ended up loosing all my work when my trial ended. Let’s just say I cried, and it was terrible. Luckily, I managed to get it copied and pasted to Google Docs before my trial ran out but let me tell you it was a nerve racking, super stressful experience.

5. Write Joy: what is the best thing that’s ever happened to you while writing or how do you celebrate small victories- The best thing that’s ever happened to me while writing? Hmmm. Everyone knows how awesome it is to finish a book but other than that I would have to say having other people read my work, enjoy it, and say nice things about my characters. I don’t think people realize how much that means to me. And how do I celebrate small victories? Fist pump, squeal, talk the ears off of my family about it, and jump around happily.

6.¬†Write Crew: who do you communicate with, or not communicate with, while writing- Well, my parents of course and my siblings because they’re normally the only ones around but other than that, my amazing friend Alexa. I feel like she is the only person I know who really understands what it’s like to be a writer and¬†doesn’t think I’m completely crazy.

7.¬†Write¬†Secret: what’s your writing secret to success or hidden flaw- Well,¬†I haven’t been exactly successful yet, I haven’t had anything published, but I have finished¬†three novels and am working on my fourth. But my writing secret is to just trust yourself and your book¬†and keep writing. Also I type really fast, which helps me¬†get the first draft down. Having a word count goal helps too. Mine is at least 1000 words a day.¬†My hidden flaw is that I am extremely skeptical about my own work and I put¬†myself down a lot. Plus I’m scared of the idea of¬†publishing. It’s just a little freaky to think of my book in stranger’s hands.

8. Write-spiration: what always makes you productive- Writing with other writers or telling other people about my writing goals. That way I feel an obligation to get it finished which is why I think NaNoWriMo worked so well for me.

9. Write Peeve: what’s one thing that writers do or you do, that’s annoying- When writers give up. Think about it. What is the one thing that all writers have in common? They never gave up. Neither should you.

10. Write Words: share one sentence from a project past or present- He came here a lot, most of the time because someone told him to.

Hope you enjoyed and as long as I’m being a rebel I’m going to tag my friend Alexa.¬†If you guys want to check out Alexa’s blog, here is the link.
